There is a sin that God can forgive but He cannot set us free from it.
What is the sin God cannot set us free from?
We know from the scriptures that God will forgive any sin if we repent, except one! Matthew 12:31 And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. So I am not talking about blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, by-the-way very few people blasphemes against the Holy Spirit. Anyone that blasphemes against the Holy Spirit cannot be forgiven. Mark 3:29 whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”
So what is the sin that God can forgive but He cannot set us free from it? God has given mankind free will, the ability and freedom to choose for ourselves. God cannot go against our will, so if we decide to hold on to any sin then God cannot set us free. Hey I love God; I do not want to hold on to any sin, yes there is a part of you that wants to let go (your spirit) and then there is another part (your flesh) that does not want to let go.It is hard to let go of something that brings any kind of pleasure.
The sin God cannot set us free from, is one that we enjoy and refuse to let go! Hebrews 11:25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season Our desire to be free from sin must be greater than the enjoyment of sin, in order to let go. When we repent and let go of it, then God can and will set us free.
Two things help us greatly to turn from sin, the reminder of God’s love and Judgement. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (Reminder of God’s Love)
Matthew 5:29 If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. (Reminder of God’s Judgement)
